3 Simple Ways to Increase Bookings

As a photographer/filmmaker, one of your main priorities is to attract and book clients who are perfect for your business and help you achieve your goals. We reached out to our friends at photo editing company, ShootDotEdit for some tips on how to increase your bookings each year for your photography/video business.

Outside of providing wedding photography post production services, we enjoy sharing valuable tips to help you grow your business. We gathered a quick list of 3 simple ways you can increase your bookings you, which include items you can get started on today.

Attract Clients with Content Marketing

Every time you shoot an engagement session or wedding day, you produce images/video you can add to your website, blog, and social media platforms, which allows you to utilize a content marketing strategy. When you use content marketing to attract clients, you show them what their day could look like if they book your services.

Another way to use content marketing for your photo/video business is to share your insights and expertise on your blog, website, or email. For example, you can create a blog post that shares what to wear for the engagement session. This provides value to your ideal clients, which they will remember when they decide on a photographer to book.

What are some ways to share your content with ideal clients? We put a few ideas together of what you can create:

  • A teaser video from a specific venue where you know your target market likes to book. Make it unique when you add music to it, which of course we provide the best, most exclusive selection out there!
  • A blog post that showcases your favorite locations to shoot an engagement session.
  • A quick PDF with the top 10 steps to planning a wedding.

Stay Top of Mind on Social Media

With billions of active users every month, social media is a fast and inexpensive way for you to entice ideal clients and invite them to visit your website and blog. No matter which social media platforms you want to include in your strategy, you must create a cohesive social media plan.

The key to success is to post consistently on the platforms where your ideal clients spend their time. For instance, if your ideal clients are primarily on Facebook and Instagram, create a consistent plan to help you stay top of mind. Once you find the best platform to use, and choose a schedule that includes the days and times your ideal clients are active, decide what content you want to share.

As an example, you can share past wedding photos or videos with a call-to-action leading to your blog on your Facebook business page. Or, you might upload teasers or short videos previewing your latest blog post to your Instagram Stories, where you add music and text to entice people to click on the link in your bio to view the rest of the images. Whatever you choose to share, make sure it appeals to your ideal clients and attracts them to your website, where they can learn more about your photography and/or filmmaking services.

Network with Vendors and Fellow Photographers/Filmmakers

During the wedding day, there are multiple vendors involved from the florist, to the hair dresser, to the baker… the list goes on. Each of the vendors that are a part of the wedding day run a business and have their own set of clients. When you build relationships with vendors, you have access to their clients, who are likely looking for a wedding photographer.

Also, the relationships you build with vendors can help you add value for your wedding clients. When they need to find other vendors for their big day, you can share your list of recommended and trusted vendors. It helps your clients and provides the vendors with additional business.

Those are just a few ways you can increase bookings for your wedding photography business each year. Our friends also put together a really useful list of 27 ways for you to book more weddings, which helps you make more money and grow your photography/video business.
