Making the Switch.

Today’s “Sessions With Fyrfly-Songfreedom” featuring: Claire Bira is a short one, which is great for those of you needing some instantaneous insight. For someone who is new-ish to the industry, Claire’s confidence is something to be admired. It is a  great attribute to her business, especially when she is meeting with clients. I loved hearing about her switch from video to photo, and how it helped her personally as a photographer. I’m sure one could present an argument from either side, but I can tell you that having a good background in both mediums will always be useful in strengthening your skills.

Striking Out on Your Own.

For those of you who finally took that leap from working for someone to striking out on your own, I’m sure you can relate to Claire’s story! I love to hear stories like this because it is always such a pivotal moment in ones career. Not everyone has the guts or desire, and we all know it can be a bumpy road, but it sounds like Claire is off to a great start!

Believing in Yourself.

Many years ago I took a workshop with Joe Buissink. During our one-on-one sessions he looked at me and said, “Jason, you’re a good photographer. The best advice I can offer you is to believe in yourself.” I know it sounds cliche, and I walked away thinking “Geez, that’s the best advice he can offer me?” However, as weeks passed, I realized how valuable that lesson was.

I also LOVE how Claire talks about learning to be more intentional with time.  I think there’s a lesson in there for all of us! Thank you, Claire, for sharing your story with us!

Do you live in the St. Louis area? If so, I’d love to hear your story! Stay tuned for more “Sessions with Fyrfly-Songfreedom” next week! Email me anytime JG at Songfreedom DOT com!
